Forum Seeks to Help Local Businesses Connect With Customers Overseas

Doing business worldwide was the topic of a forum for local businesses in Eau Claire today. US Representative Ron Kind and the Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Fred Hochberg hosted a Global Access Forum.

Kind says the session was set up to help small businesses gain the insight and expertise needed to access foreign markets using the Export-Import Bank. Kind said the bank provides insurance, loan guarantees, and provides matching of potential customers overseas, and vets those customers to make sure they're not likely to default.

Kind said the bank is helping Wisconsin businesses expand their reach and create jobs.

"They've been doing such a good job for the state of Wisconsin that over the last three years, we've had over four billion dollars in export sales in this state alone," Kind said.

The forum was held at Chippewa Valley Technical College.
