A fan of the outdoor sports? The 2014 U.S. Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championship returns to Carson Park today.
Starting today and all through the weekend, the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp will be the home for chainsaw artists from all over the world. This fourth edition of the competition will circle around the theme of wildlife and carvers will have 20 hours to complete their project.
Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Executive Director Diana Peterson says besides raising funds for the camp, the competition appeals to the artistic side of Eau Claire. The event showcases the wood carving art to the people of Eau Claire, as well as showcasing Eau Claire to the visitors of the event.
Peterson says there will be various activities for kids and different presentations on Saturday for the visitors. She says there are plenty of carver food available for purchase so no one will go hungry.
The admission is free on Thursday, but there will be a small entrance charge from Friday onward.
