A proposed pipeline would carry natural gas through the Eau Claire County Forest.
Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Director Josh Pederson says We Energies wants to run the gas line which would serve communities along the route in the Eastern part of the county, running south to Tomah. If approved, construction could begin next year. We Energies will discuss the proposal at Tuesday's Parks and Forest Committee meeting. The state's Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing Thursday from 2:30 to 7pm at the Best Western Arrowhead Lodge and Suites in Black River Falls. Pedersen says if the pipeline is built, the route could be developed into trails for snowmobiles or atvs. Pedersen says residents can comment on the proposal at any committee or county board meeting during the time set aside for public comments, or by contacting him at the Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Department.
